Sibanye-Stillwater’s important role in empowering students through bursaries: Plan to fund 26 students for 2025 academic year
Sibanye-Stillwater is one of South Africa’s biggest mining and metals processing Groups. In its effort to empower students who need critical academic funding, Sibanye is calling for interested young people to join its external bursary programme.
To qualify for this bursary opportunity, you need to have the following requirements:
- Achieved a minimum of at least: English 5 (60 %+), Mathematics 5 (60 %+) and Physical Science 5 (60 %+)
- Passed first-semester modules with an average of 60%
There are also further requirements to be considered. However, these requirements are not a barrier to your applications. Please apply if you meet further requirements below:
- Currently registered University students with proof of registration for 2025 and the latest academic record
- Applicants in possession of a Grade 12 Matric Certificate with University Acceptance – APS score of 23
- Matriculants (Mid-year results will be provisionally considered and proof of registration and/or acceptance for 2025
- Achieved a minimum of at least: English 5 (60 %+), Mathematics 5 (60 %+) and Physical Science 5 (60 %+)
- Proof of Residence (fraudulent submissions will be excluded from applications)
- Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the relevant Sibanye Stillwater Occupational Health Centre
As a mining giant, Sibanye obviously prefers to fund certain fields (BSc / BEng / BEng Tech and higher) and areas that are of great interest to its mission and vision. Hence, those students who are doing studies aligned with mining activities have a greater chance of being selected. Preference will be given to the following disciplines :(Engineering – Electrical, Mechanical, Instrumentation; Metallurgy, Mining, Geology, Rock Engineering, Mining Survey.)
In addition, not all universities are being considered in this case. Universities that will be accepted are University of Johannesburg: University of Pretoria; University of the Witwatersrand and North-West University.
