SAFCOL invites unemployed youth aged 18 to 35 who wish to pursue a career in Forestry to
apply for a 10-month learnership program. Successful applicants will engage in a formal and
structured Learnership Program (NQF Level 3), which includes accredited theoretical and
practical training.
Learners will be based at the official SAFCOL training center (Platorand) in Sabie,
Mpumalanga Province. A monthly stipend will be provided for the duration of the learnership.
Upon successful completion, learners will receive a nationally recognized qualification:
National Certificate in Forestry: Harvesting (NQF Level 3). This program will equip them with
the knowledge and experience to enhance their employment prospects with forestry
companies and contractors, or to establish their own SMME.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must be a South African Citizen
Must be an unemployed youth ages (18 to 35)
Must have successfully passed matric (Grade 12)
Must have passion for forestry environment and able to work outdoors

ARTISAN DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME – APPRENTICESHIP 2025
Applications are invited from unemployed youth interested in pursuing a career as an Artisan.
Suitable candidates will have the opportunity to enrol at a recognized Training Centre to develop
their skills over a three-year period. Workplace training will take place at our Timbadola sawmill near
Louis Trichardt (Makhado).
Apprenticeship programme consist of the following artisan trades:
- Fitter & Turner
- Millwright
- Electrical
- Diesel Mechanic (Motor trade)
- Boiler Making
Learners will receive a monthly stipend throughout the apprenticeship. In the final selection process,
preference will be given to Previously Disadvantaged Individuals, people with disabilities, females,
and youth from communities adjacent to our plantations and those with which we have signed social
compacts. Upon successful completion of the occupational knowledge, practical, and workplace
training, the Skills Development Act mandates that apprentices undergo a final summative
assessment (Trade Test) to become certified as qualified artisans
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be a South African citizen
- Must be an unemployed youth aged between 18 and 35
- Must have completed Grade 12 (not mandatory but recommended)
- Must hold a minimum of an N2 or Level 3 Technical Vocational Education & Training (TVET)
certificate in the relevant trade theory
