KRUGERSDORP RAPE VICTIM’S BEING GIVEN PSYCHOLOGICAL SUPPORT

JOHANNESBURG – Police Minister, Bheki Cele, says the victims of the Krugersdorp gang rapes and robberies are being given psychological support.

Eight women were gang raped during a music video shoot at a mine dump earlier this week.

Over 80-suspects have been arrested and are expected to appear at the Krugersdorp Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.

Cele says evidence gathered at the scene will help link the true perpetrators to the crimes.

He said, “police are investigating, we will have to find out exactly what happened, I know many people have been arrested but we need real perpetrators amongst those people. The evidence that has been collected by the police will help us to link to the perpetrators.”

“For some reason somebody has sent the names and addresses of these kids let me tell you they are quite traumatised, they are not in good shape, mentally and otherwise hence the province under MEC Faith [Mazibuko] have sent psychologists to work with them. I have spoke to the minister to send further support to them.”
