IS PERCY TAU GOING TO KAIZER CHIEFS

Al Ahly have reportedly decided to cut their losses on Percy Tau after the Bafana Bafana star was once again struck down by injury

Percy Tau’s time at Al Ahly could be coming to an end after the Egyptian giants reportedly reached the decision to part ways with the South African forward as a result of his poor injury record this season.

Tau joined the Red Devils in a high-profile move from Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion at the start of the campaign but has endured a disrupted year after suffering a spate of injuries since his arrival.

The 28-year-old previously missed the club’s FIFA Club World Cup campaign in January and was sidelined for at least eight matches due to a quadriceps injury sustained in June before returning to action earlier this month.

However, he has since found himself back in the physio’s room where local publication Yallakora report he is recovering from a recurrence of the muscle injury and could remain out of action for the remainder of the season.

The relapse was sustained in training ahead of Ahly’s Egypt Round of 16 victory over Misr Lel Makkasa and has left the former Mamelodi Sundowns star fighting for his future in Cairo.

Correspnding reports from Al-Masry Al-Youm claim that the club’s board have grown frustrated by Tau’s injury record and lack of availability and will be looking to offload him ahead of the 2022/23 season.

The publication alleges further that Tau has been earmarked for departure alongside Luis Miquissone and Badr Banoun, with four unnamed foreign players reportedly identified as their replacements.

Despite the stop-start nature of his campaign, Tau has still managed to play a hand in 14 goals this season, scoring eight and assisting a further six in 31 appearances across all competitions.
